On Sunday, October 15, 2006, OCC will host the annual Cyclocross race at the Onondaga Lake Park. The race is part of the Central NY Cyclocross Series and we expect racers from the West and Central NY area. To make this event a success, I am asking you for your help as volunteers.
In particular, we need help for the Course Set Up (Sunday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. (the more volunteers show up the better, no special expertise required). The course needs to be marked with tape and 3 or 4 barriers have to be put on the course.
Also, we need help with Registration. (Not much of expertise required, experienced folks are there to explain and show, you’ll learn by doing) Registration starts at 9.30 a.m. Finally, the race needs to be scored.
Scoring requires a little experience, but again, there will be members there who have done it and you can easily help out. 1st race starts at 11 (will run for approx. 45 minutes), 2nd race starts at noon (runs for approx. 60 minutes).
The more help we get, the easier is the workload for each individual. Also, Cross races are absolutely fun to watch, cyclocross is a high-intensity, tough sport event, which requires highest level of skill and fitness. For more info on the race, please check our website.
Please come out and support your club (and don’t forget those Volunteer points)!
If you can help, please contact me (e-mail or 682-7841) and we’ll find a suitable assignment for you!
Hope to see you there,
Jochen
