Do you have or know of any types of rides/groups like yours out in that are? I work downtown but do not feel secure about having my bike on the car in the parking lot down here during the day. It has 1.5 inch rain tires and fenders. The fenders limit the slop to your shoes (I wear shoe covers) and lower legs (I too wear rain pants). The bike get messy but its an old bike. You should be able to find an old bike with fender and rack mounts (the rack and bag are nice to carry the rain clothes if the weather is uncertain) on craigslist or from another club member.
