April 10. 10:00 a.m. Great Northern Mall: Saturday’s Mallory Mosey has two options of 22 and 32 flat to rolling miles. It follow the flattish terrain near the Oneida river and extends over a few rollers to Mallory before returning along CR37, through Mud Settlement, and re-crossing the river in Caughdenoy. The Clay-Central Square-Mallory Tour, web map Euc-2, was originally a Wednesday night ride laid out in 1990 by whatever-happened-to-Pete-Newell and the club has used this route multiple times, in many permutations, through the years. Last year, thirty-three riders cycled in sunny, fifty degree temperatures. We can expect no less this year. The ride leader is Don Healey, 598-1168.
April 11. 10:00 a.m. Minoa Elem. School: Sunday’s ‘More muck, More miles’ ride title alludes to its similarity to ‘Oniontown & the Mucklands’ with which it shares twenty percent of the roads. This route is about as flat as you can get and we add some distance to start preparation for OCC’s, summer Gran Fondo. Thirty-three cyclists rolled in dry, seasonal conditions last year when the ride reappeared on the schedule after a long absence. Four mileage options of 18, 26, 32, and 47 miles generally follow the I-90 corridor to Canastota and back, with the lengthier extension to Whitelaw. The route derives from a classic (pre-1975) Green Lakes ride [Kirkville-New Boston Loop] and was revamped in 1997 when the NY290 parking spots were eliminated. Six Creeks and a Canal will be crossed, web map Min-5, and maybe even a few bullhead noted. Yum! The rider leader is Steve Grossman, 445-0278.
